Vice recently produced a highlight reel covering 24 things that President Trump claims to be the best at.
We went through this highlight reel and recapped five claims due to the immediate impact cannabis would have on them. The claims we chose from President Trump were:
1) There is no one is better to people with disabilities
2) There is no one fighting more for the veterans
3) He knows the most about trade
4) No one in the history of this country has ever known so much about infrastructure
5) No one knows more about debt than him
Cannabis Supports People with Disabilities
Although researchers are just beginning to learn about the medical benefits associated with cannabis, they already know that cannabis can help treat several debilitating diseases and improve daily life for millions of people around the world.
Some of the illnesses it can help treat include: glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), epilepsy, anxiety, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, lupus, arthritis, Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), nausea, and many more.
Veterans Rally for Cannabis
There is enough clinical data and mountains of anecdotal evidence to say that cannabis has medical benefits, but it remains a Schedule I substance. Hundreds of thousands of Veterans have rallied for legal medical cannabis.
If there is no one better than you for the veterans, then legalize cannabis!
Colorado Infrastructure Benefits from Cannabis
Since 2014, Colorado’s infrastructure has seen a significant improvement and much of this is due to the tax revenue from legal cannabis. In 2016, Colorado generated more than $1.3 billion in revenue from the sale of legal marijuana and this provided the state with almost $200 million in tax revenue.
If the government starts to go after states with legal recreational cannabis programs like Colorado, we expect to see the pace of infrastructure improvements slow down significantly.
Our infrastructure already needs a facelift. Why not let cannabis be the reason why America has even better schools, roads, public services, and hospitals.
Rollback of Legal Cannabis to Cause Debt to Spike
President Trump has said that nobody knows more than he does about trade and debt. During his presidential campaign, he frequently rallied up his crowds by putting the blame on past presidents (especially Obama) for the incredibly high debt level. On this front, President Trump is right. America is currently drowning in debt. He is also right that Obama is the cause of this debt.
His execution is off though and he is listening to some of the wrong people. The rollback of legal recreational marijuana will not help reduce our debt levels. Shutting off this revenue stream and destroying hundreds of thousands of jobs will only exacerbate the current situation.
Canada Capitalizes on Cannabis Trade Opportunities
28 states have legalized medical cannabis and eight states and the District of Columbia have legalized recreational cannabis. This revolution is not just taking place in the America. We are seeing cannabis reform taking place all around the world as countries like Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Jamaica, Mexico, Netherlands, Paraguay, Portugal, Puerto Rico, and Uruguay have taken steps to legalize cannabis.
When it comes to trade, legal cannabis represents a huge opportunity and the we are behind the curve. We are already missing out on billion-dollar opportunities and letting other countries capitalize on America’s absence.
An example of this is Canada. They are selling cannabis to Germany since it only allows medical cannabis to be imported.
