Although many do not expect to see cannabis legalized for several years due to the massive amount of money against it from the likes of big tobacco, big pharma and big alcohol, we beg to differ!
The legal cannabis train left the station years ago and the amount of money needed to rollback this multi-billion-dollar industry is unfathomable. On top of this, the unemployment rate would immediately increase since hundreds of thousands of people would be out of work.
The Common-Sense Tactic
Trump should employ the common-sense tactic when analyzing situations like this. Although this tactic is less frequently used today (especially in the White House), it provides fantastic results.
To utilize the common-sense tactic effectively, all you need to do is think of the pros and cons of the decision which in this case is recreational cannabis.
- Pros: New growth industry that is already worth a few billion dollars; it treats illnesses that do not have an accepted treatment; it has created hundreds of thousands of jobs; it is easier on your body when compared to alcohol; it saves lives; and it saves resources.
- Cons: Yeah…about that
Need a Regulated Recreational Cannabis Industry
If you shut down the legal cannabis market, you are just simply giving more power to cartels, gangs, and other criminal organizations.
The number of cannabis users has increased significantly over the last few years and in August, Gallup released the results of a poll pertaining to cannabis usage among United States adults. The poll found that one out of every eight adults smoke cannabis.
The survey also found that 13% of adults currently use cannabis (up from 7% in 2013). Although this increase is significant, the number of adults that tried cannabis decreased by 1% from the prior year (43% this year).
Don’t be stupid. Don’t mess up a good thing.
